Fear of all thoughts/thinking..

Quote

How does one deal with fear of all thoughts and fear of thinking in general?

I had harm ocd itnitially and through exposure and disregarding i really toned it down and had themes switch on me too. But now i feel like i am stuck in this end of recovery phase where I fear all thoughts. I feel like I think ocd is this tricky condition that i will never get out of and that no matter what i say or what i do, ocd will find a way to trick me. This may sound crazy but i feel like i read this somewhere how ocd is tricky and im stuck on this so bad.

I fear thinking in general and have such low mood because of it. I just cant snap out of this.

I keep wondering if i will spend the rest of my life fearing my thoughts and what else my mind will come up with.

I've experienced this as well. Im in about the 3rd stage of recovery. I know it can be really hard but i think that what could help is to stop consistently monitoring for intrusive thoughts. By always looking behind your shoulder (figuratively speaking of course) for the next scary thought. Your brain is still seeing this a fear response and therefore tries to throw up thoughts to get you to react. Fearing that these thoughts will be there is why your mind keeps sending them. I know its scary but what helps me is to do what ali advises which is any thought that has to do with your themes, so anything related to harm or whatever other themes you have just completely disregard and prevent any fearful response, don't talk back and try to reason with the mind. Just because your mind is talking doesnt meen you have to listen to what it has to say and take it seriously. I hope this helps you can do this you can recover it sounds like you've made progress so be be proud of yourself and keep pushing!
