Powerful Is there anyone who is tracking their rumination times and would like to do it together? I have been doing it very honestly for more than 3 weeks now and it really helps! I'd like to do it with someone so it keeps me motivated and also, now that I am okay, I am worried that I will forget it.
Anonymous61502 Guys why is important to track time?
Anonymous61502 How it helps?
Anonymous61526 when I got hocd it became really severe and (because i was not knowing what was going on) furthermore I interpreted it as a spiritual insight for my life and that I have to follow those urges/ feelings/ thougts to be gay and fulfill my life purpose, but I didn't want to. That made everything worse and the anxiety was skyrocketing. Any suggestions about that? Since i know about OCD it got easier

You track time to reduce ruminations and compulsions. When you reduce and later stop ruminating and stop compulsions, you stop feeding OCD, your brain can finally starting recovering, and actually you can start seeing reality for what it is. So tracking is just a tool. Ali talks about that all the time.

Check Alis videos on track time, reduce rumination, reduce compulsions, track your progress, stick with it honestly for few months (first month is hard, but later it becomes significantly easier)

I promise you this is OCD, this is exactly how it operates. You need to choose to disregard these thoughts and feelings.
Ali, it's okay that my OCD thoughts come in the form of a desire to attack. And as soon as I imagine this kind of thought for a second, the thought immediately comes to me that suddenly I have done it now? Sometimes I cannot understand, I myself imagine these thoughts or they come by themselves. Although recently I was in a terrible mental state and imagined the thought that I was supposedly no
andrey_m not afraid to attack. For a second, I kind of imagined the thought that I was not afraid to go out and attack in a certain place, I kind of imagined in my head that this scenario, or I kind of imagined the feeling that I supposedly want to or, as it were, experienced this feeling for a second, and then the thought instantly comes that suddenly you did it? This situation worries me very much, be
andrey_m because here I, as it were, imagined desires myself (being in a terrible mental state). OCD claims that you wanted to attack, what if you attacked? I blame myself for this terrible imagination, but OCD convinces me that I was imagining, and then suddenly went out and attacked, I supposedly wanted it. OCD tries to convince me that there was more than just imagination of thought. Ali, tell me, i
andrey_m is this imagination of thoughts such a specific manifestation of false memory OCD? Thank you so much for your reply in advance! You give hope for recovery! I don't feel panic. I feel like a complete calm of feelings. And OCD says: you are not afraid to attack, so you could have attacked. But I am terribly frightened of why my panic has disappeared and now the thoughts that I am not afraid to
andrey_m to attack and the impulses to supposedly attack, but I understand that most likely this is part of OCD. I understand correctly? I just can't understand why I have these feelings?

Hi Andrey, this is all OCD. You need to reduce your rumination time. Are you doing time tracking?
Ali Greymond I'm here if anyone has any questions
Seamstress Hi: Had a bit of a setback last couple of weeks, began tracking again but feel like I need some inspiration. Can you recommend one of your videos that would help me get back on track?

Hi Seamstress, setbacks happen from time to time. It's a process. I recommend having a goal of reducing each day. That way you feel good that you achieved the goal at the end of the day and you will get back on track faster. Would you consider a forum leader position? if so, please email me at info@youhaveocd.com In terms of videos I think the "if you are having an ocd attack" one

This sounds like ocd. How much of the time during the day are you ruminating?

I’d say a few times a day I will get intrusive thoughts but the the majority of the day I will feel down and guilty for the thoughts

Exactly. You can't wait until you feel comfortable to start doing the work. You need to instead do the work every day.

the guilt thinking is also rumination. You need to refuse thinking about this in any way.

You need to track how much time you are spending on this thinking. Every time the thought comes in, say to yourself "All people with OCD have disturbing thoughts. That's a symptom of OCD. I'm choosing to not feel guilty for having a symptom"

Anonymous61558 Hi Ali,
andrey_m Ali, I understand that this is a reassurance, but could you say a few more words about my type of OCD. I always try to give an explanation of where this thought came from and I understand that I, as it were, always attract them myself, when for some reason I imagine these supposedly desires to attack, and so on. But I do not deliberately imagine, but they come to me in the form of thoughts. But
andrey_m But sometimes I cannot understand myself whether I imagine them or not. Is this the type of thought that comes in the form of desires? Sometimes I imagine these supposedly desires to attack, in order to resolve a thought, in order to understand whether I had such a thought then. andrey_m seemed to think so for a second or imagined a desire, and then a thought came to panic: What if you did it? I know that it always happens, that when I imagine and such a thought comes. But it scares me that I did this and OCD claims that suddenly you attacked? What are these imaginations and why do they provoke the idea that I suddenly attacked? Is this how OCD works? Anonymous61558 I have been suffering with multiple odds over the years starting in my teens. I used to have cleaning and religious ocs...then it formed into pure o. I think because I had to spend a long time ruminating in my mind to hide the illness its now pure o. It feels so overwhelming 😢

littlestar98 Hi Ali,
littlestar98 I am so scared I might have psychosis. I have a lot of paranoid thoughts, e.g. if someone laughs or looks at me I think it’s because of me and I have a hard time differentiating between what I have done in reality and what I have not done. Besides I am sometimes very confused like I don’t understand simple things anymore if someone is trying to explain something to me.

that's not enough, you need to track your rumination time on hourly basis. Track and reduce. Keeping track of the content of the obsession actually will make it worse.

your OCD is fear of psychosis. Any time you get a thought on this topic, don't test compare check or analyze. Don't research. Let the thought be there and move on with the day.

This is a common OCD thought
The thoughts started after a receptionist for a therapist asked me if I have has harm thoughts. I was having anxiety before related to a health scare. The thoughts sometimes had settled down but they are at times constant and I can get bad anxiety holding my son thinking I will do something. Is that all related to harm OCD?
