Hearing OCD
Hearing ocd is a very common type of OCD theme. To give you an example, a person has a fear of getting cancer. He goes to the doctor to get a checkup. During the talk with the doctor, the sufferer thinks he might have heard the doctor say the word cancer. The sufferer gets more and more anxious trying to piece together what the doctor said. The more he tries the worse the anxiety gets.
Hearing OCD is always in a pair with another OCD theme, they work parallel together.
You have to realize that if you constantly think you have overheard something and have severe anxiety from these thoughts, it is an OCD issue and you may have a hearing theme as one of your OCD themes.
So how do you combat a hearing theme? The best thing to do is to allow the anxiety to linger but do not give it any power. Let it create all the what if thoughts that it wants, do not try to stop it, but at the same time do not buy into what it’s telling you. Just allow it space in your mind but refuse to take it seriously.
At first your anxiety will get worse because your brain will be worried that you are not paying attention to the warnings it is sending you. During this brief time it is important o stay strong and continuously refuse to believe that these thoughts are valid.
After a little bit of time your mind will calm down and the anxiety will reduce. Now the worst part is behind you and all you need to do is keep doing what you did before, just keep ignoring the thoughts. At this point it will not be as hard since your anxiety will be a lot lower than it was in the beginning.
Hearing OCD is rarely talked about but is a very real and common type of OCD. If you have it please don’t think that you are alone in this because there are a lot of people who are going through the same thing.

OCD Recovery Program Testimonials
I would just like to say a massive thank you to Ali Greymond for all of her help and support through what had to be one of the hardest and most fearful times in my life. Hell sounded appealing to what I was living with- false memory OCD! I’m very private and the thought of telling someone my intrusive thoughts was agonising. I listened to Ali’s shows on YouTube and I knew the best person to help me was her, Ali made me feel so comfortable, I never once felt as though she was judging me in anyway in fact she made me feel the opposite like I was normal and none of this meant anything. She gave me the tools and skyped me every day I felt like She was in the next room the support was amazing. This wonderful lady changed my life, it’s hard work and determination daily but if there’s one person that can help you recover from OCD it’s Ali Greymond. She’s amazing at what she does and me and my family are blessed we found her because I don’t know where I’d be now. Thank you Ali your programme is amazing. (L.)
I came to Ali with a severe case of contamination OCD. Ali graciously offered me an introductory session free of charge. When I asked her when we could start, she said “how about today”? I liked that she was that proactive and willing to jump in immediately. I looked at the packages she offered and signed up immediately for the “Severe OCD” package, because that accurately described the state I was in. Ali almost immediately became my anchor, my support system and friend through this very frightening and lonely disorder. With Ali by my side, I had hope for the first time and I made strides that even surprised me. I was amazed at how quickly I started to recover. It felt like magic to me.
Having been a fellow sufferer herself, she truly understands the disorder. I felt that Ali intuitively knew when to push me through a fear and when to back off. When she felt that I was not ready for an exercise she told me. When she felt that I could push through a fear, she told me and 100% of the time, she was on point! This was extremely important as feeling in control is such a huge element of this disorder. I would recommend anyone suffering with this disorder to work with Ali. She helped me get my life back and that is priceless. (J.)

Vitamin D and Mental Health
There is a lot of talk about vitamin d having an effect on mental health.
So you suspect that you are not getting enough vitamin d?
Welcome to the club. Most people today are not receiving adequate amounts of this important vitamin.
How to increase vitamin d in you system:
– don’t use SPF all the time. Research shows that SPF is harmful as well and a little bit of sun on you face isn’t going to do damage. We don’t mean that you should bake in the sun until you look like a well done turkey, just a little sun each day.
– go out in the sun between 11am and 1 pm for a few minutest each day in the summer.
– in the winter stay outside as mich as possible, depending on your climate. It is very difficult to get vitamin d from the sun in the winter, so te longer you are outside the more chance you have of at least absorbing some vitamin d. Do not wear SPF in the winter, if you do, chances are you will get almost no vitamin d.
– do not wash your face after you ave been in the sun. Vitamin will not absorb, you will wash it off. Do not wash for at least 4 hours.
Foods
There are many foods that have vitamin d in them. You just need to know which ones and how much.
The best food that I found to increase vitamin d is salmon. One salmon fillet has almost all the vitamin d content you need for the day. Plus salmon is not high in calories so it
Works well in most diets. Just make sure you bake it as this method of cooking retain the highest amounts of vitamin d.

How to Tell if You Have OCD
When you first suspect that you might have OCD, it seems very difficult to figure out if it is really OCD. Many sufferers worry that they don’t actually have OCD and are just a “bad” person for having these thoughts. They feel all alone and are not sure how to for sure figure out if their problem is OCD. There are also situations when a friend or a loved one is suffering and the family wants to figure out if it is OCD. So, how do you tell for sure if you have OCD?
– you are spending most of the day being worried about something that most people would find insignificant and would not worry about. Ask yourself, “would my best friend care if he was in my position?”
– you have a well established “theme” that your thoughts revolve around. They are not random and are usually following a common topic.
This topic or theme can be: cleanliness, harm, worry of schizophrenia, worry of aids, worry about relationship, worry about being gay, etc.
Every OCD thought will in one way or another deal with this topic or theme.
– you feel like if you refuse to think about the thought and analyze it you are a bad person for ignoring it, so you spend a lot of time thinking about it.
– you perform actions to neutralize the thought.
-you feel powerless, like the thoughts are not coming from you. You feel like you can’t control or prevent them.
If this sounds like you or someone you know, chances are this person has OCD.

Harm OCD
Most people with OCD sooner or later experience harm OCD or hocd as their major or minor OCD theme. This makes harm OCD one of the most common types of OCD. This article will explain what is harm OCD, how to correctly identify it and how to start overcoming hocd.
Harm OCD or hocd is a type of OCD obsessions. It can often be a subtype of pure obsessional type of OCD, but not always. A person with hocd is constantly worried that he or she may do something od have
done something in the past that will cause harm to someone else. For example, a person can be worried that when they drive and go over a speed bump they actually hit someone. They may try to drive back to the spot to make sure they did not hit anyone or check the news for any accident reports in their area.
Harm OCD almost always comes with extreme feelings of guilt and hyper responsibility. The sufferer always thinks that the safety of everyone else is his or her personal responsibility.
Harm OCD also comes with feeling of guilt. The sufferer thinks that they are guilty and responsible if something goes wrong with someone else.
In order to identify whether a thought is a hocd obsession, ask yourself the following questions:
1. Am I doubting this thought as OCD?
2. Is this thought repetitive?
3. Do I feel morally responsible for the safety of someone else when in fact most people would not care as much as I do?
4. Am I afraid that I am a bad person?
5. Am I going over this situation in my mind over and over again to try and solve it?
6. Is the thought making me extremely anxious and difficult to focus on anything else?
7. Do I feel the urge to confess the thought to someone else?
If the answer to most of these questions is yes then you are experiencing harm OCD or hocd as it is also known.
To stop these feeling you need to start viewing them differently. Instead of taking them as a valid fear, view them as a misfiring signal in your mind. Allow them to stay in your mind but do not address them.
Just give them some room and let them be. Do not try to solve them or to make them go away. Let them stay but do not take them seriously. After all they are not real valid fears but just a symptom of an illness called OCD. There is no need to fear them. As soon as you see that you have nothing to do with these thoughts, they will go away. They have no power on their own, they are only powered by your fear of them. Once you remove the fear the thoughts will go away.
